Public Service Award

Judge Michelle Vaughan is Juvenile Court Judge of the Enotah Circuit (Towns and Union Counties).  She was appointed to this position in 1999 and was reappointed this past May for a 4-year term.  Michelle is known for her great respect for all partnering social service agencies involved in her court and her strong consideration of their reports and recommendations.  Michelle is very well versed in the law and makes good sound decisions based on law as well as common sense.  She is quick to commend parents when they are trying their best and does not hesitate to chastise when they put their interest or the interests of others ahead of their children.  She runs her court in a professional manner, but with a human touch and a measure of common sense.  She truly has the best interests of the children at heart and tries to keep families together if at all possible.

Michelle is a graduate of the University of Georgia and was admitted to the bar in 1991.  She lives in Blairsville, Georgia with her daughter Lindsey.  She is an accomplished rider and has several horses.
