“CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS”
Please join us as the Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children in
partnership with DHR-Division of Family and Children Services, Division of
Mental Health Developmental Diseases and Addictive Diseases, Department of
Juvenile Justice, Supreme Court of Georgia Child Placement Project, Office of
the Child Advocate, Georgia Court-Appointed Special Advocates, Georgia Council
of Juvenile Court Judges, Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, Children’s Advocacy
Centers of Georgia, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Georgia Sheriff’s
Association as we plan for the 6th Annual Child Placement Conference. This
year’s conference will be held on November 7-9, 2005 in Augusta at the
Radisson Riverfront Augusta/Country Suites Augusta Riverwalk.
The mission of this conference is to help each participant develop more
knowledge in their specialized area, as well as broaden their perspective in
other areas of children and family services.
We invite you to share your expertise in the form of a presentation to this
year’s attendees, which will include new and experienced DHR placement staff,
supervisors, resource development staff, independent living staff, DJJ
caseworkers, administrators, juvenile court judges and attorneys, private
providers, and community volunteers. We welcome presentations to include but not
limited to the following:
--Substance Abuse
--Domestic Violence
--Adoption Issues
-- Case Planning
--Juvenile Justice Issues
-- Effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
--Comprehensive Child and Family Assessment Services
--Cultural Diversity Issues
--Ethics
--Wrap-around services
--Transitioning Youths
--Public/private sector collaboration and innovative approaches to service
delivery
--DSM IV Diagnosis
--Level of Care
In exchange for sharing their expertise, primary presenters will receive a
complimentary admission to the conference. Travel, hotel, meals and
miscellaneous expenses will be at the speaker’s expense.
If you are interested in presenting, please complete the enclosed form and
either fax or mail it to the address at the bottom of the page. Please include:
• A brief (50 words or less) description of your workshop.
• A copy of your current resume or a brief biography with your submission.
• Specify on the form what kind of audiovisual equipment you will need for your
presentation. This equipment must be ordered in advance. A very limited number
of LCD's projectors will be available. Presenters are encouraged to supply their
own laptops and LCD projectors.
