Placement Conference Award Categories
Recognizing Individuals for
Outstanding Work With Children
It’s that time of year again to nominate
your outstanding colleagues to be recognized for their hard work and
contributions to the foster care system in Georgia. Below please find the categories of awards:
Leadership Award – This award goes to an individual who has
demonstrated outstanding vision for change and leadership over the past year in
advocating for children and families served by the Georgia foster care
system. Last year’s recipient was
Representative Georganna T. Sinkfield, District 57, Atlanta, GA.
Legacy Award - This award goes to an
individual who has made significant efforts to further long-lasting change in
the Georgia foster care system.
Public Service Award – This award
goes to an elected or appointed public official who has made an outstanding contribution
to the foster care system over the past year. Last year’s recipient was Judge Peggy Walker, Douglas
County, GA.
Exemplary Service Award – This award
goes to a public or private case manager or supervisor who has made outstanding
contributions to his/her unit, county, and client caseload over the past
year. Last year’s recipient was
Elsie Matthews, Social Services Supervisor, Clayton County, GA.
Friends of Children Award – This award goes to an individual who has made
a significant commitment to making a difference for children in foster care by
providing direct care services.
Last year’s recipient was Sister Theresa Mary Sumner, St. Mary’s Home
for Children.
Please nominate colleagues that you believe deserve one of these
awards. The deadline for nominations is Monday, October 15, 2001.
