The Utilization Manager (UM) is responsible for managing prior authorizations and the concurrent review process with Medicaid, Care Management Organizations (CMO), and private insurance companies for children, adolescents and adults receiving services through the CHRIS Counseling Center. The UM oversees authorization processes in order to safeguard against unnecessary and inappropriate behavioral health care services rendered to Medicaid recipients, as well as, recognize and act on under and/or over utilization of services. Behavioral health care services and/or charts are reviewed for quality assurance including but not limited too; medical necessity, quality of care, appropriateness of place of service and length of services provided. UM must possess a firm grasp of the Georgia DBHDD guidelines in order to maintain and or update policies to meet compliance standards for the organization. UM must also have extensive experience in completing IRRPs and authorizations for Medicaid and CMOs under current state guidelines. UM will review and submit all completed authorizations providing timely feedback to assessors and therapists. UM will also be responsible for working closely with the Accounting Department to clear any progress notes that we are unable to bill due to various errors.
