Legislative Update - ACTION needed on HB 161, Chandler's tax credit bill

To: Together Georgia CPA and CCI providers

House Bill 161 sponsored by Representatives Joyce Chandler, Kendrick Dar'shun, Pam Dickerson, Andrew Welch and Willard Wendell proposes a
new tax exemption for contributions used to promote the well-being of certain children. This bill would incentivize donors to contribute to your child welfare programs.

Our lobbyist suggests that we contact Representiave Jay Powell in support of this bill. Representative Powell is Chair of the Ways and Means Committee. This Committee is the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. The Committee derives a large share of its jurisdiction from the state Constitution which declares, "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives."

Please take action today. This bill is still in the House and will need to pass the House and cross over to the Senate for approval. The cross over deadline is March 13.
