Mental health is on Dempsey’s priority list with House Bill 705
Blake Doss - Northwest Georgia News
Mental health care providers may soon have to provide family members of their patients with medical information, such as treatment plans.
State Rep. Katie Dempsey, R-Rome, is sponsoringHouse Bill 705, which would help a mental health patient designate a family member or another trusted person to get regular updates about the patient’s progress.
Patients may do something like that now, Dempsey said, but HB 705 would make the language more direct — requiring the physician to ask if there is someone they want to be involved in treatment discussions.
