KINSHIP UPDATE: HB 962 Signed by Governor
Kinship Care Enforcement Administrator
into law today
HB 962 addresses the urgent need to support the 100,000 children living with grandparents or other kin in Georgia, an arrangement known as “kinship care.” Kinship families face a series of financial, legal and administrative barriers that make it harder for them to care for children.
“I would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all the kinship families across the state who attended our study committee meetings and wrote to our office to make their voices heard on this critical issue,” said Leader Abrams. “I applaud my colleagues on both sides of the aisle who voted to connect kinship care families to the services they need. I appreciate Governor Deal’s commitment to this work on behalf of kinship families in our state.”
