Legislative Update
We have hit full stride in the legislative session as numerous bills are being dropped daily. This week six of our members spoke at the the House Appropriations Human Resources Subcommittee requesting that funds be added to the FY 2017 budget for CCI and CPA rate increases. There will be no public comment at the House subcommittee meeting Monday (2/8) at 2:00 in room 341 at the Capitol. However you are welcome to come join me at the hearing and listen to DFCS field questions about the budget. Our next opportunity to make our push for rate increases will be when the Senate subcommittee meets. We will let you know about that opportunity as soon as we know.
Those of you with school programs can still sign up to speak at the Appropriations Education Subcommittee hearing on Monday at 2:00, which will be held in room 606 at CLOB.
Please review the many bills in the weekly legislative matrix and let us know if you need additional information or desire to be present in a related hearing. HB 696 is Rep. Welch's bill regarding criminal background checks for staff required by various state agencies. HB 905 calls for some changes in provisions of the Child Abuse Registry.
