Provider Watch - August 10, 2009 - Criminal Record Checks Procedural Change
Effective August 30th, DHS (Department of Human Services) Office of Inspector General will no longer do preliminary criminal record checks sometimes called "Computer Based Name Check" or "GCIC Check." They cite fiscal constraints and improved technology for processing the more accurate and legally required national criminal fingerprint checks.
The following memo reportedly was sent to all vendors, providers and Community Service Boards. A PDF copy of this memo can be found here.
Reminder: Remember the Provider Summit on September 24th at the Wyndham in Peachtree City. This day long summit will be an important venue to explore the implications of Georgia's child welfare reform efforts with providers.
