GBPI Releases Important Report - Georgia faces a deficit of billions, yet the Georgia House of Representatives recently approved 16 bills that further decrease revenues by $228 million in FY 2010, growing to $614 million by 2012, according to GBPI's latest report analyzing the government's official fiscal notes. "Georgia already faces a $3.1 billion deficit in FY 2010, with deficits projected at $746 million in FY 2011 and $1.7 billion in FY 2012. It is more important than ever that the General Assembly moves cautiously when considering additional tax breaks," said Alan Essig, executive director of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute.

NAMI Releases Guide to Crisis Intervention Programs for Youth - NAMI has published a guide titled, /Supporting Schools and Communities in Breaking the Prison Pipeline: A Guide to Emerging and Promising Crisis Intervention Programs for Youth, to help inform advocates about existing crisis intervention programs for youth and what they can do to promote and implement such programs in their states and communities. http://www.nami.org/cit

Governor's Office for Children and Families Announces Its 2009 Caring Communities: Systems of Care approach RFP/ Grant Writing Workshops - GOCF is committed to building systems of care for targeted Georgia populations by funding providers, agencies and organizations that operate under these core values and principles and are able to expand, enhance or develop the system of care approach for youth and families at the local level. Through this community-based system of care approach, GOCF offers grant funding for prevention and intervention services for children, youth and families to ensure they are educated, healthy, safe and growing. The training sessions are free, however, registration is required as there are limited seats available. Participants are highly encouraged to print the RFP from the website and read it at least once prior to the training.
