Program Overview:
Children need a team in order to heal and change.  Parents and parent substitutes are essential healing and change agents for our children. This program is designed to teach participants how to create effective  treatment and case plans that include parents and parent figures.

Objectives of the Program
1. Participants will learn the key dimensions to determine the strengths and needs of a family system
2. Participants will explore how family diagnosis and individual diagnosis interact
3. Hands on Practice creating a Family Treatment Goal Plan

About the Trainer: Wendy Haus Hanevold, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with families who are undergoing major life transitions. Her interests revolve around building positive and healthy attachments, acceptance of grief and loss issues, and helping children and families bloom where they are planted. The creation of successful parenting teams is a key component in her work and training. Dr. Hanevold maintains a private practice in Atlanta specializing in children, teens and families struggling with attachment and other disorders secondary to complex trauma. Wendy is a popular lecturer in child, teen and family, assessment ,coaching and treatment.  Wendy is also the clinical consultant to the  Georgia Division of Family and Children’s Services-Comprehensive Child and Family Assessment Program (CCFA). She has been with CCFA since the pilot project and designed the components of the Child and  Family Assessment in consultation with the CCFA committee. For twelve years she was  also the consulting psychologist to Georgia’s Therapeutic Foster Care Management Team. 

Target Audience: New Experienced Staff, Caseworkers, DHS Placement Staff, DJJ Staff, Juvenile Court Judges/Attorneys/Staff, CASA, Private Provider Staff, Management Supervisors, Substance Abuse/Mental Health Professionals.
