September 21, 2011 Webinar - ChildStat: Leading systems-level improvements based on case-level experiences, the first session in What Works for the Workforce: Leadership Competencies in Action - A National Webinar Series on Leading Change to Strengthen the Child Welfare Workforce. The webinar will showcase the development, implementation and outcomes of a leadership change initiative - ChildStat - as well as offer lessons learned, tips for agencies, and the leadership skills and competencies necessary to sustain it over time. September 21 & 22, 2011 - Organizational Approach to Safe Practice and De-escalating Aroused Behavior - Macon, GA This workshop continues the international collaboration between MCH and CALM Training UK initiated by the Child Welfare League of America initiative on restraint reduction. The workshop will be led by:-  David Leadbetter   MSc, BA (Hons), CQSW, Dip SW, Cert SW Ed, Cert MTD, FRSA – Director CALM Training The workshop will explore current evidence and best practice in the management of challenging behavior and restraint reduction. David will share the conclusions from his 30 years of international experience working on this agenda, drawing on materials from the CALM Training approach. The training model used by MCH and a key factor in their attainment of the lowest injury rates in the federally funded CWLA initiative. September 27, 2011 - GA Child Welfare Legal Academy - Atlanta, GA Registration is now open for the September program of the GA Child Welfare Legal Academy. The Honorable Lisa Mantz, Newton County Juvenile Court, will discuss Georgia's compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act and other issues. November 7-9, 2011 - GA Youth Law Conference - Atlanta, GA
GACC is requesting submission of abstracts for presentations at the GA Youth Law Conference in Atlanta, Nov. 7-9, 2011. The submission deadline has been extended to September 9, and the submission form is attached. We  hope to include presentations on a wide variety of topics of interest to juvenile court practitioners-- both in child welfare and juvenile delinquency cases. November 1, 2011 - CCFA/WA Advanced Skills Training - Atlanta, GA
The Georgia Department of Family and Children Services contracts with providers to deliver Comprehensive Child and Family Assessments (CCFA). Providers under contract are required to maintain certificates of attendance for individuals who will complete Family and/or Adolescent Assessments and for supervisors responsible for supervising assessors. (Advanced Skills Training is required for ALL CCFA Assessors, CCFA and WRAP Supervisors, Clinicians and Subcontractors. Advanced Skills Training is NOT required if the staff does NOT supervise and/or does NOT conduct counseling, clinical therapeutic or assessment services.)  more information
