Module 3: The Impact of Trauma on Children's Behavior, Development, and Relationships Module 4: Assessment of a Child's Trauma Experiences Module 5: Providing Support to the Child, Family, and Caregivers Module 6: Managing Professional and Personal Stress Module 7: Summary About the Trainer: Liz Gallaspy is a Social Worker with over 24 years of experience in child welfare and inpatient psychiatric treatment. She has been with Georgia State University Professional Excellence Program for nearly two years. Liz has been a trainer for a number of years having been selected as a Trainer by the State of Georgia to train DFCS staff with the SHINES/SACWIS project. This was one of the largest systemic computer project/training in recent years by DHS. It encompassed select trainers preparing over 4000 DFCS staff to be trained in a specific time frame to meet federal compliance. For several years, Liz also trained Adoption and Foster Parents on IMPACT & MAPP. Currently with the PE program Liz trains is: · Family Centered Practice, (for Administration & Case managers) Concurrent Planning · Interviewing Skills · Childhood Trauma · Substance Abuse (pilot project for Region 3) · Curriculum revision for Substance Abuse · FTM for Case Managers · Learning Circle Coach (pilot program) Liz received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1987. She has been fortunate to work in various programs areas in Child Welfare. Therapeutic Foster Care, Foster Care, Adoptions. For a number of years she had her own Adoption and Foster Care Agency geared towards special needs adoption. The agency, The Children’s Center of Metro Atlanta, provided placement and advocacy services for parents seeking to adopt siblings, older children and medically fragile children. Liz continues to work at an Inpatient Psychiatric Dual Diagnosis Facility where she provides, family sessions, psychosocial assessments, process groups, individual sessions as well as outpatient substance abuse interventions. In addition to her professional career, Liz also finds joy in participating in her two sons’ extracurricular activities. She wanted to be instrumental in ensuring the quality of programming at the recreational center, so she joined the governing Board of Directors at Welcome ALL Park.
