Welfare Watch - January 4, 2011 - Rachelle Carnesale named as director of Georgia Division of Family and Children Services

Deal names Rachel Carnesale, acting director for the Office of the Child Advocate, as the director of Georgia division of Family and Children Services. Carnesale will replace Mark Washington who resigned his position with DHS in September 2010.Carnesale will join the ranks of those in key child welfare positions providing leadership under the new administration:

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities - Dr. Frank Shelp, Commissioner
Department of Human Services - Clyde Reese,Commissioner
        Division of Family and Children Services - Rachelle Carnesale, Director
Department of Juvenile Justice - Amy Howell, Commissioner
Office of Child Advocate - Tonya Boga, Director
