report covers 41 key indicators of well-being and suggests long-term

July 16 marks the 15th anniversary of the "look back" eligibility
requirement for federal foster care assistance. As a result of the
"look back," fewer children are eligible for federal foster care
support today than when the decision was initially made.

Hearing Emphasizes the Importance
of Accurately Counting Child Deaths Due to Maltreatment
The subcommittee on Human Resources of the House Committee on Ways
and Means held a hearing on child deaths due to maltreatment on July
12. The hearing was held in conjunction with the release of a
Government Accountability Office study that found child deaths due
to maltreatment chronically underreported.
