Provider Watch September 2, 2015 - HRSA/SAMHSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Grant

From UGA/behavioral health and social services providers liaison

I have partnered with UGA to help with the HRSA/SAMHSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Grant they were awarded last year.  The purpose of the grant is to "expand the behavioral health workforce by supporting pre-degree clinical internships and field placements for students at accredited masters-level schools and programs of social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy..."

I have been asked to act as a liaison between UGA and Behavioral Health and Social Services providers.  The more involvement we have by providers with grant related activities, the better the outcomes will be for all involved, most importantly the at risk population we all serve.
As providers, we should see an increase in student placements, work ready graduates and graduates that are already familiar with our agencies and populations served.  I am inviting ALL Behavioral Health and Social Services providers, statewide to participate as much as possible and make this grant a success!
Although students will be attending classes in Athens, they travel statewide to work after graduation AND many students commute and need practicum placements close to where they live.  As a result, ALL Behavioral Health and Social Services providers, statewide would benefit from participating.  In addition, during networking sessions, we are given the opportunity for free advertisement of our services, recruitment of new staff and student practicum placements.
There are two networking sessions scheduled at the UGA School of Social Work this month, Monday, Sept 14th from 4:30-6:30 and Monday, Sept 28th from 4:30-6:30.  The more activities providers can attend, we are better able get to know the students and faculty, ensuring that student practicum placements and work ready graduates are drawn to our agencies.
Although the activities will be held at UGA, I sincerely hope that as many people as possible can attend!
Again, Networking sessions are
Monday, Sept 14th from 4:30-6:30 and Monday, Sept 28th from 4:30-6:30
