I am forwarding this message along on behalf of Nina Cheney at the nsoro Foundation about CollegeBound - a program that is very important to me! Nina, the new Executive Director at nsoro, has made it a priority to expand the CollegeBound program to every corner of the state in the interest of making sure that all youth who are experiencing foster care may have an opportunity to have a precollegiate experience to expose them to college life. Largely because of nsoro's commitment to growth, there are still spaces available at every CollegeBound site.
I am forwarding a message from Nina with some information about the program, locations and dates. The registration process is straightforward. The stated deadline is May 2nd, but if you know of a young person who may be interested but can't make the deadline, Nina has assured me that there can be flexibility. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me or reach out to Nina directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. All of the program information can be found on the information below (and attached) or by visiting the website at www.thenf.org.
CollegeBound, an innovative college preparatory program for youth in foster care has space available this summer! This week long program, held at eight college campuses, disseminates information that allows students to make informed decisions about their future. Students indicate their campus of choice on the application. Through courses in academic readiness, financial literacy and health and well-being, foster youth learn what it takes to get to college. A special focus is placed on the application process and scholarship opportunities. Students live in dorms on campus and engage in campus life and fun activities, giving them a well -rounded view of the college experience. The program is sponsored by the nsoro Educational Foundation – all costs are covered with the exception of travel to and from the program sites.
Applications for CollegeBound can be found on the nsoro Educational Foundation website: thenf.org. The deadline for applications is May 2, 2016, but if you let us know of student interest, we are happy to extend that deadline for application completion.
