RESIDENTIAL CHILD CARE SERVICES
LICENSURE ORIENTATION MEETING

Are you interested in opening a program to provide
24 hour group care to children? Read the Following.

Catalyst for CARE is not recommending any provider to open any new out of home program in Georgia.  While the State is still granting licenses for child placing (foster care agencies) and child caring institutions (group homes, emergency shelters, second chance homes, and outdoor adventure programs) they are not granting any contracts for these programs.  In other words, a program may get licensed but the state will not contract with you for the placement of children.  Georgia presently have some capacity issues to address.  Many providers are reporting census down by as much as 50%.  Some estimate that we have 30% more capacity than is needed in the State.

Georgia is encouraging the development of home and community based services.  An explanation of these services can be found at: http://www.gahsc.org/nm/pp/2006/ccs/ccsindex.html
