The Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children is a state wide membership association of private, public and proprietary agencies which provide out-of-home, and in-home care, and related services to at-risk children and youth.
To benefit these children and their families, GAHSC provides lobbying, information and education services, and facilitates opportunities for collaboration between members and other child welfare service providers.
GAHSC envisions a future where out-of-home care is considered an important part of the continuum of care. GAHSC also envisions a future where children and youth are served appropriately along the continuum and receive the correct level of care to which they are entitled. Finally, GAHSC envisions that all agencies along the continuum will receive adequate funding to support the services required and needed by "at-risk" children and youth. The GAHSC of the future will be member-driven and member supported, with agency executives and staff actively involved and participating in association services.
GAHSC believes
When out-of-home placement is necessary, children and youth have the right to receive appropriate, individualized care and services.
It is important to foster a planned, thoughtful approach to creating and implementing a continuum of services for "at-risk" children and youth.
There must be a concentrated effort to affect the well being of "at-risk" children and youth, and that private and public agencies must work in partnership to ensure adequate resources are provided to support children's services.
It is imperative to enhance the professionalism and quality of care provided to "at-risk" children and youth.
It is necessary to provide opportunities for fellowship, support and networking among child welfare service providers.
