Normer Adams is the Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Homes
and Services for Children. He has been serving and advocating for children
for over three decades. Dr. Adams' work with children began in 1968 in an
inner city youth ministry in Atlanta, Georgia. He has served
children as a youth minister, a chaplain
and administrator of a children's home, and as a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice
before assuming the leadership of GAHSC in 1991.
Normer Adams serves on a number of boards, consults in areas
of child welfare and children services. He has written hundreds of articles on child
welfare and is recognized as an advocate for children, being quoted and interviewed widely by local media on child welfare
issues.
Normer has a Doctorate of Ministry from Columbia
Theological Seminary. His interests include child advocacy, writing,
and web development. He is an avid runner,
completing more than twenty three marathons.
His greatest teachers of issues surrounding family and children are his wife and
children. He has been married to Pamela Badgerow for over thirty-eight years. They
have three grown children. They make their home in Fayetteville,
Georgia.
