Georgia Association of Homes and Services for
Children Recent legislation permits the States to expand Medicaid Eligibly to foster children who are age eighteen or younger when they entered foster care. This will help many youth now who "age out" of foster care at age 18 to continue to have medical insurance type coverage to age 21. Because this is a subsidized federal program, state dollars leverage federal dollars for the benefit of foster youth who still need to be in foster care to complete their educations or development. Position: Expand Medicaid eligibility to foster youth ages 18-21. |
