Here is the information about our February 12th Prom-A-Palooza. Please pass this on to foster placements in county, agency and relative foster homes including ILP, group homes or foster care shelters. To make a reservation, please click on the link at the bottom of this page to download and print the reservation form. You can email it to prom@fostercares.org or fax it to 770-641-3084.  We are excited to have Spanx as a sponsor this year and will have a Spanx station for the girls
 

Teen foster girls from all over Georgia
are invited to come and select a prom dress & more.
A Spanx station will be set up for the girls along with Dresses, shoes, accessories, jewelry and make-up. We will help them have a
magical dream Prom.

The 2012 Prom-A-Palooza will take place on Sunday, February 12th.
An Appointment and reservation is needed to attend or volunteer Security will be in place. Open to Girls in DFCS custody foster homes and group homes, Relative Foster Care, Kinship Care, Grandparents Raising Grands and Project Healthy Grandparents
. Girls in these programs from all over Georgia can come to select elegant dresses donated to enable them to attend their high school proms in style. In years past, there were giggles and smiles and oohs and ahhs all afternoon while the young ladies select the dress of their dreams, plus jewelry, accessories like shoes, shawls purses and a lesson in make up selection and application with free make up donations. Girls must be in 10th thru 12th grades but not in adoptive settings.

What You Need To Make A Reservation for Prom-A-Palooza 2012  Fill out the attached form completely for Prom-a-Palooza registration and fax or email it to 770-641-3084 or prom@fostercares.org, you will get a return reservation time within 7 days

 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

WHO can come?  Girls from the following homes and programs; foster homes, group homes, relative foster homes, grandparents raising grands or therapeutic foster homes living in Georgia. Girls must be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade to attend regardless of per diem. Girls must have a verified reservation and be accompanied by a registered adult chaperone from their home, ILP, DFCS or institution. Girls in the ROTC program grades 9th through 12th that are in DFCS custody foster care can also make reservations so they can attend their ROTC Ball. No 8th grade girls accepted. Only 1 dress per girl regardless of how many events they plan to attend.

 

WHAT will they do?  Girls will choose from a selection of over 1000 beautiful prom gowns to take home for their perfect evening at their own high school prom. Personal shoppers will help them through the process of selecting dresses to find their perfect choice. All dresses must be approved by their foster parent or chaperone.

 

Once girls select the dress of their choice, they will be escorted to other areas for coordinating accessories such as jewelry, shoes, purses, shawls hair or other things that may be available.

 

After checking in their selected items...Cosmetic consultants will assist the girls in learning the art of doing their own makeup in a tasteful and mature fashion. Hair consultants will help them choose what best styles are for them from sample photos.   

 

Those interested in attending should have their foster parents, caseworkers, ILP coordinator, house parents or group home parent's call fill out the reservation form for an appointment time. All dresses and accessories are free to the child.

Directions to the Event 

From Atlanta

Take 75 North to 85 North to 400 North, take exit 8-Mansell Road, left onto Mansell Road going west towards Roswell, past Wal-Mart and take a right onto Alpharetta HWY at the Wells Fargo Bank,  past three lights and take a right at the Carl Black auto Dealership onto Mansell Pl. - 2nd building on left.

 

From Northeast, Norcross or Gwinnett co. area

Take 85 to Jimmy Carter BLVD going west, stay on Jimmy Carter which will turn into Holcomb Bridge RD. to Roswell, go past Ga 400 and approximately 5 or 6 lights more and take a right after McDonalds onto Alpharetta HWY, past Mansell Road, past the next three lights and take a right after Carl Black Auto Dealership onto Mansell Pl. 2nd building on left.

 

From Marietta Area

Take Roswell Rd at the Big Chicken going east towards Roswell. Roswell Rd will change names into Marietta highway when crossing the county line into Fulton County, at the end of Marietta HWY, take a left onto Atlanta St, continue past the Krispy Kreme and bear right at the fork onto Alpharetta St. Past Holcomb Bridge Rd and Mansell Road, past the next three lights and take a right onto Mansell Pl. after Carl Black Dealership, 2nd building on left.

 

From Rome Area

Take 575 or 75 south to Chastain Exit take left onto Chastain Rd stay on Chastain Rd and when it changes names to Blackwell until it dead ends into Shallowford. Take a right onto Shallowford and proceed towards Roswell, passing Trickum Rd, Sandy Plains Rd, Johnson Ferry Rd, and into Fulton county (bridge) and proceed 3 more miles to Historic Roswell. Go straight onto Alpharetta Street. Past Holcomb Bridge Rd, past Mansell Road, past the next three lights and take a right after Carl Black Dealership onto Mansell Pl. 2nd building on left.
