Welfare Watch - January 30, 2012 - Webinars Offered on Use of Psychotropics with Children in Foster Care 

The National Technical Assistance Center for Children’s Mental Health at Georgetown University is offering a series of webinars on the “Use of Psychotropics among Children in Foster Care.”  

The first webinar, Mental Health, Psychotropic Use, and Evidence-Based interventions was presented on January 9, 2012, but a Complete Audio Recording is available at this link.  Presenters include: Bryan Samuels, Commissioner, Administration on Children, Youth, and Families; David Rubin, MD, MSCE, Director, PolicyLab, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; and Gene Griffin, JD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, northwester University Feinberg School of Medicine. 

A copy of Commissioner Samuels PowerPoint Presentation is available at this link, as is a copy of Dr. Griffin’s presentation. A copy of Dr. Rubin’s presentation will be available in the near future, and once Dr. Rubin’s slides can be shared, a full webcast (audio + slides) of the webinar will be available for playback.  

The second webinar in the series, Clinical Management and Monitoring of Psychotropic Medications, fearing Christopher Bellonci, MD and Stephen Crystal, PhD, will be presented Monday, February 13, 2012 from 12:30-2:00 PM PST. Click here to register for this webinar.
